Textile Champions is a schools-focused education initiative from Roberts Recycling, created to help pupils understand what happens to clothing after donation and why reuse, recycling and responsible collections matter.
Delivered through interactive assemblies and workshops, the programme brings textile recycling into the classroom through practical activities, discussion and real-world examples. It connects everyday decisions around clothing with bigger questions about waste, resources and circularity.
Learning Through Action
The initiative supports schools already taking part in Recycle 4 School and Dragon Bags, rewarding collection activity with educational experiences that help pupils become more confident, informed advocates for textile reuse.
Early workshops were delivered with primary schools in Wrexham and Manchester, reaching more than 250 children. The sessions were developed in collaboration with Florus Education and designed to make sustainability feel tangible, accessible and relevant for younger learners.
Why It Matters
Schools are important places for circular habits to begin. By combining textile collections, fundraising and education, Textile Champions helps pupils see that unwanted clothing can have a second life, support good causes and reduce the amount of material treated as waste.
